Conference “Finding your voice in a global world”


We would like to kindly invite you to participate in the “Finding your voice in a global world” conference, organised by Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis high school, as our honourable guest speaker.

The aim of the conference is to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis high school and provide participants with an opportunity to hear and offer innovative insights into a global tradition focusing on one’s search for identity in a global world.

The conference is taking place on the 10th of November, 2021, on an online platform, Zoom, from 12:00- 16:00 (EEST). The arranged time for our honourable guest speakers’ presentations is 12:15-13:00 (EEST), however if you are not able to join during the specified time, we will be accepting video recordings and presenting them during the conference.

Provided below are the topics suggested for presentations:

– Searching for oneself: various identities (cultural, linguistic, national, gender, sexual etc.) and their local and global manifestations in the world or in literature;
– Searching for the meaning of life;
– Loneliness or aloneness: (a)lone(ly) literary characters;
– Why we conform: to fit or not to fit it? Belonging as a means of being;
– (Wo)Man in a ruined, crumbling world;
– Historical personalities;
– Home-sick or sick of home: the themes of emigration, patriotism and the homeland;
– Literature by, for and about women: female / feminist review of literary texts.
– Conference participants will be issued with the Certificates of Appreciation and teachers will be provided with the qualification certificates from the Kaunas Education Innovation Centre.
